Españoles en Alberta

TURO es una especie de Airbnb de coches que descubrí este año buscando alternativas más económicas para alquilar coche. Es muy fácil de utilizar. Una vez te has creado la cuenta, buscas el coche que te interesa (se puede ver en el mapa donde están ubicados, algunos van a recogerte con un coste extra) y contactas con los propietarios. Todo se hace a través de la app, incluso el contrato del seguro para el coche.

Clients originating from the United States who are lawfully entitled
to be or to remain in Canada and have now established residency
in Alberta may exchange their valid US operator's licence for an
Alberta Class 5, 6 or 7 operator's licence.

When a client is surrendering an expired US operator's licence,
an official written confirmation letter from the US licensing authority
detailing the content of the driver's licence must be submitted.

To obtain an Alberta licence, you will need to apply at any one
of the Registry Agent offices.  A medical examination and vision
screening may be required if:
- you have a medical condition that may affect your ability to
  drive or
- if you are within 6 months of your 75th birthday or older.

You will need to provide acceptable identification, proof of
Canadian citizenship status and proof of Alberta residency.

Some examples on proof of Canadian citizenship status include:
- birth certificate issued from any Canadian province or
  territory
- valid Canadian passport
- permanent resident card
- citizenship card,
- valid work permit or student visa.

Some examples of proof of Alberta residency include:
- Alberta Rental or Mortgage Agreement
- Letter from your employer
- Proof of personal taxes filed in Alberta
- Utility, telephone, or gas bill in your name and with Alberta
  address on it.

¿Quién paga las tasas del permiso de trabajo?

"En cuanto a las tasas, sí que las vais a pagar vosotros. De las que estáis exentos es de la de certificación de profesores y más adelante de las de renovación, cuando tengáis que pedir un nuevo permiso de trabajo el año que viene (será vuestro distrito quien cubrirá estos gastos)."
